Iran weighs Russian offer to take custody of its 60%-enriched uranium as parliament puts NPT withdrawal on the agenda
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on October 4 that Iran is considering a Russian offer to take custody of its uranium enriched to 60%, with a final decision to be based on national interests. The same day, parliament board member Alireza Salimi said lawmakers will review a possible withdrawal from the NPT while keeping uranium enrichment. Tehran is also reviewing a US proposal, conveyed through Qatar, that sets out a roadmap and timetable for further talks.
